Our Middle Years Association was first established in 1993. This organization
continues to provide resources to its members, networking opportunities,
support from the parent organization of the National Middle School Association,
links to Universities and the Ministry, and even to associations in neighbouring
provinces. One of the key highlights for MYABC members is the annual provincial
conference. We held our very first provincial conference in Saanich in
1996 and it has traveled since then to West Vancouver (97), Kelowna (98),
Courtenay-Comox (99), Coquitlam (00), Kelowna (01), Saanich (02), Coquitlam
(03), Penticton (04), Abbotsford (05), Victoria (06), Coquitlam (07), Penticton (08), and Saanich in 2009..
Participation in the our annual conference has grown over the years with
an increased resolve from the MYABC membership that responding to the
developmental needs of 10 - 15 years olds can best be done in Middle School
Environments. Middle Schools are also being increasingly recognized from
stakeholders within educational communities around the province.
